Course Delivery

All my training course are now delivered in a new format! It includes two main components - self paced learning from my existing and new training videos and interactive Q&A follow up sessions, spread over 12 months from signup (also recorded for later review).

Using the new format, you will get:

• Videos for learning at any time:

  • Self-paced learning from (40+ hours) of training videos
  • Slides, demo scripts, lab setup instructions
  • Videos are streamable for 12 months from signup
  • Videos are also downloadable for “forever personal use”

• Full training experience for modernized interactive follow-up:

  • In addition to everything above:
  • Access to at least 10 learning weeks for Q&A, followup, via members-only training chat and discussion forum (every 5 weeks)
  • Access to 20 x 1.5h live webinar sessions spread over a year from signing up (I run two separate live follow-up sessions per training course during a learning week - “US morning” and a “US evening”, at 11am US Eastern and 8pm US Eastern time, respectively)
  • You can join the learning weeks and live webinar sessions for 12 months from signup date
  • You can download the recordings your training course’s followup Q&A sessions, too

The full training experience is an evolution in modern training. Learning should not have a hard stop at 5pm on Friday evening when the class is over. People won’t remember much from the last days anyway! So, instead we spread the interactive parts over a longer period. The attendees can do structured learning at their own pace and ask questions, get clarifications and interact with the instructor (and other like-minded training attendees) well after the initial learning part is over.

What are learning weeks?

During one week of every month, I will focus my attention on training related work and attendee interaction:

1. During the learning weeks I am near my computer, working on training Q&A follow-up, coaching and interacting with attendees from (my) Monday to Friday.
2. We will use the members-only training Slack channels for small questions and random chat, and GitHub Issues for keeping track of all questions (and building a searchable knowledge base over time).
3. This way I can answer more questions and also we can discuss more interactively, when more clarification or further drilldown is needed.
4. I will also schedule the monthly live follow-up webinars into these learning weeks (50% in US morning, 50% US evening timezones, so half of the webinars cover EMEA and APAC timezones too).
5. This is the time for you to block some days off for learning purposes in your work-calendar, so that you can focus on learning too.
6. If your manager or training department asks for the training dates, you can pick any of the learning weeks from my training calendar - that’s when the next chunk of live & interactive learning happens.

What timezones are covered?

You can (of course) do self-paced learning using the videos at any time. The learning weeks are optimized to be useful in all timezones:

1. Tanel will start answering chat & forum questions in the US EST mornings (afternoon in Europe).
2. Tanel will answer questions all the way into the US EST late evenings (morning/day in APAC region).
3. The monthly live webinar times alternate between US morning and US evening timeslots.

As Tanel lives in Florida, US, he’ll probably sleep when it’s nighttime in the US Eastern timezone.

What is not in the scope of this training offering

To manage expectations, here are some things that this training product does not provide:

1. There are no response SLAs, guarantees, urgent escalations, 1-1 phone calls or consulting work included - this is still “just” a training product.
2. It is the customer’s responsibility to develop, fix and optimize their systems and assess any risk of using the tools and techniques learned.
3. Tanel will interact with attendees and answer training questions only during the prescheduled learning weeks.
4. Tanel will not do your work for you, but during learning weeks can advise how you can do your (tuning & troubleshooting) work better, using the methods, tools and techniques introduced in the training material.
5. Tanel expects that the attendees put some effort into asking questions properly. You can help by supplying a clear explanation of the problem and all the inital relevant info and data in advance. That way Tanel can coach how you can drill down deeper within the already used systematic approach. No “screenshots” of random scripts’ output taken with cellphone cameras, please :-)
